Clarens golf course continued...

The Clarens Golf and Trout Estate developers has ensured that all the holes on the new course would fit into the natural beauty of Clarens and therefore the golf lodges borders only one side of three holes. Many of the original holes on the golf course were retained and upgraded.Your game of golf will begin at the clubhouse which is the highest point on the golf. The existing dams were enlarged and stocked with brown and rainbow trout, and rivers are meandering through the course. Adding to the pines and willows already on the estate are three hundred trees that have been transplanted from a local farm, including a 27m Lombard poplar, the tallest tree to be transplanted in the Southern Hemisphere.

To retain a natural aesthetic, no residential units were built directly on the course. All of the holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of trout dams, waterfalls and cascades. Great care has been taken to ensure that each round of golf you play will be as memorable, if not more memorable than the previous one.

Ownership at Clarens Golf and Trout Estate includes golf club membership as well as a 5-year membership in the local conservancy and Trout Club, which gives access to streams and rivers in close proximity to Clarens. Construction management of the Clarens Golf and Trout Estate falls under the portfolio of Pinnacle Point’s in-house development company, led by prominent architect Lance Kinnear. This is the same team that has overseen the building of the Pinnacle Point site in Mossel Bay. The developer has employed local workers as builders on the site, to uplift the economy in Clarens.

The demand for property on the golf course is evident from the record price of R3.15 million recently paid by a Johannesburg executive for a property at The Clarens Golf and Trout Estate. According to Pinnacle Point Holdings Sales Manager George Page, business executives in Johannesburg, Durban and Bloemfontein have been investing in Clarens in ever-increasing numbers.
